Every once and a while, I read a reference to some new and cartoonishly evil thing some Republican legislature is trying to do somewhere, and go, “okay, this one really has got to be hyperbole.”
Pretty much every time, I’m wrong.
More dispatches from the front lines of the culture war aka Texas. The rage is never ending and exhausting
I thought “conservation” was a swear word in Texas.
Funny How That Works
The joys of living in a state where price gouging are many: as hotels and motels have become filled, they’ve upped the prices, and Gov. Abbott is doing nothing about it, because, hey, capitalism. And they lost money during the pandemic, so why not?
Also, Texas has its own electrical grid, and it’s run by a private enterprise. Despite the fact that they’ve got over 3 MILLION people without power, haven’t been winterizing their equipment, and gas, electric, coal, and nuclear have all gone offline, they too are raising their prices. Granted, *they* didn’t lose money during the pandemic, but hey, capitalism.
