Russian Mosin Nagant M891 rifles recovered from the SS Aud
The SS Aud was a German ship sent to deliver arms to Irish rebels who were to partake in the 1916 Easter Uprising. The rifles had been captured by German forces on the Eastern Front and were among 20,000 rifles, 10 machine guns, and 1,000,000 rounds of ammunition that was carried by the SS Aud. The weapons never made it to their intended destination as the ship was discovered by the Royal Navy forcing the crew to scuttle the ship in Cork harbor.
