For anyone who is confused what happened here, hot liquid causes expansion, and glass cups are poor heat conductors, so the inner layer of glass heats up before the outer layer, and glass is are not strong enough to withstand the expansion without cracking

If you need to pour near boiling liquid into a glass cup, put a metal (iron or stainless) spoon in the cup first and pour very slowly. The spoon will save the glass by conducting away some of the heat, and pouring slowly will allow the inner and outer layers of glass time to equalize
