West Germany honored the pensions of former Shutztruppen.
Since
records were sketchy, an official of the German government set up an
office in the former German territory, & told the locals to send any
former German troops to come & apply for the pensions.
When men came to the office, the official handed them a broom & had them go through the manual of arms.
None failed.
