synthetic corks are not ever going to decompose or breakdown.
A cork if stored correctly will last as long as the wine is good.
A screw top provides the best seal of all.I do not believe that last one for a fucking second.
I worked in wineries for years (as did friends & family).
EVERY bottling line engineer told me that screw tops provide the best seal.
Cork is fine if you wrack the bottle correctly.
