Früwirth M1872 Gendarmerie repeating rifle

Designed and manufactured by Ferdinand Früwirth c.1872 in Vienna – serial number 3660.
11,15x36R 8-round tubular magazine, bolt action repeater, skeleton pistol grip.

A very sleek design issued to Austrian border guards and gendarmerie troops during the Belle Epoque. It fires the same round as the Werndl carbine, the gun it replaced because of the impossibility of upgrading it to be magazine-fed – this round also had its bullet modified to be used in the Gasser M1870 revolver a few years earlier.
It’s rare to see revolvers and repeating rifles share a cartridge anywhere else than in the US.
