It was 20 years ago today, on September 13th, 1999, that the Moon was blasted out of Earth orbit by a nuclear waste dump explosion, carrying the polyester bell bottom-clad inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha with it.
This tragic date is still regarded as the least groovy day in space exploration history.
