Fifty million face masks bought by government cannot be used by NHS
Today in Tory corruption news, the Government awarded a PPE contract worth £252 million to Ayanda Capital in a secret procurement process. This firm is a ‘family office’ owned through a tax haven in Mauritius, a newly-created company with no experience in selling medical equipment set up by Andrew Mills, a banker and an advisor to Liz Truss, the Secretary of State for Trade. Mills has made approximately £30m profit on 50 million face masks that are substandard and cannot be used by the NHS.
It’s the failed track and trace app all over again. The Tories are taking advantage of the pandemic to indulge the get rich quick schemes of their incompetent cronies. The Covid crisis is a supermarket sweep for disaster capitalists. What do we have to do to get rid of them?
