Gimli Glider, when a 767 ran out of fuel due to issues with the switch from imperial to metric, and had to land in a former landing strip-turned racetrack while a race was taking place, without any deaths and landing so majestically the plane was able to be flow back to a proper airport once minor repairs and a proper refueling took place, one of aviation’s finest moments.
