Supermarine Southampton I ‘N9899’ by Alan Wilson

Via Flickr:

Built in 1925 and delivered to 480 (Coastal Reconnaissance) Flight at Calshot. Loaned to the Development Flight at MAEE Felixstowe between April 1927 and February 1928. One of three Southamptons wrecked in a gale at Portland in November 1928. The fuselage was sold and used as a houseboat on tidal mud-flats at Bawdsey Ferry, Suffolk. Recovered in 1967, restoration began at RAF Cardington in 1984 and was completed in 1995. The fuselage was returned to a stunning condition and new tail surfaces were constructed.
