French Infantry Sword for a Sergeant, Mid-18th Century
Mid 18th Century provenance: France, Straight, double-edged blade of hexagonal section, first part with a deep groove with damask structure and remains of gilding. Brass hilt with smooth shell-guard, loop-guard, oval pommel (almost spherical) and wooden grip, covered with brass wire binding and ring-nuts engraved with rings. Provenance: R. Brooker collection, inventory n. S – 620. length 99.5 cm.

British Sergeant’s Sword, c.1860
A Victorian sergeant’s sword, with quill-point, circa 1860. These are rarer than officer’s swords and this is a very clean example. No visible maker or regimental marks that I can see.
